表皮脂肪酸结合蛋白(EFABP)属于细胞内脂肪酸结合蛋白(AFBP)家族,分子量15kDa。脂肪酸结合蛋白(AFBP)具有在腔内结合脂肪酸及相关复合物(胆汁酸或类维生素A)的能力。EFABP和AFABP紧密相关,都在脂肪细胞中表达。在肥胖和胰岛素抵抗两种模型中,EFABP的缺失可以提高系统的胰岛素敏感性。从EFABP缺失小鼠中分离出的脂肪细胞的胰岛素介导的葡萄糖转运能力也得到增强。相反地,脂肪组织高表达FABP的小鼠表现出系统的胰岛素敏感性降低。

Introduction:
Human fatty acid binding protein EFABP is a 15 kDa member of the intracellular fatty acid binding protein (FABP) family, which is known for the ability to bind fatty acids and related compounds ( bile acids or retinoids) in an internal cavity. The fatty acid binding proteins AFABP and EFABP are closely related and both are expressed in adipocytes. Absence of EFABP resulted in increased systemic insulin sensitivity in two models of obesity and insulin resistance. Adipocytes isolated from EFABP-deficient mice also exhibited enhanced insulin-stimulated glucose transport capacity. In contrast, mice expressing high levels of EFABP in adipose tissue display reduced systemic insulin sensitivity
