- Western Blot (Cell lysate)
- The ACSL4 polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB2504) is used in Western blot to detect ACSL4 in RKO cell lysate (human colon cancer) treated with 10% FCS for 24 hrs. Data is kindly provided by Drs. M.G. Sciulli and P. Patrignani from the University of Chieti (Italy).
- Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections)
- Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human hepatocellular carcinoma tissue reacted with the ACSL4 polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB2504) , which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry ; clinical relevance has not been evaluated. HC = hepatocarcinoma.

- The protein encoded by this gene is an isozyme of the long-chain fatty-acid-coenzyme A ligase family. Although differing in substrate specificity, subcellular localization, and tissue distribution, all isozymes of this family convert free long-chain fatty acids into fatty acyl-CoA esters, and thereby play a key role in lipid biosynthesis and fatty acid degradation. This isozyme preferentially utilizes arachidonate as substrate. The absence of this enzyme may contribute to the mental retardation or Alport syndrome. Alternative splicing of this gene generates 2 transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq
