PneumaCult™-ALI is a serum- and BPE-free medium for the culture of primary human bronchial epithelial cells (HBECs) at the air-liquid interface (ALI). HBECs cultured in PneumaCult™-ALI undergo extensive mucociliary differentiation, resulting in cultures with morphological characteristics similar to that observed in the normal human airway. Cells cultured in PneumaCult™-ALI elicit physiological responses to known stimuli, making this medium a robust tool for in vitro airway epithelial cell research. PneumaCult™-ALI is also suitable for disease modeling, toxicity studies and preclinical drug development including inhaled drug formulations.
